REGISTRATION

A person shall not collect or process personal data without being registered with the Commission as a data controller or data processor.

The registration process is done online through the PDPC website www.pdpc.go.tz
For Public Institutions, they are required to have one document, the institution Tax Identification Number (TIN) certificate, which will also be used as an attachment to the registration form.
For Private organizations, they are required to have three documents, which are the organization BRELA certificate, Tax Identification Number certificate and financial year audited report which will be also used as attachments to the registration form.
For Non Government Organizations, they are required to have two documents, which are the NGO registration certificate and the NGO TIN certificate, which will also be used as attachments to the registration form.

To complete the registration, please follow these steps

  1. Select one person from your company who will register the company on the PDPC system on behalf of your institution. This person is legally known as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and you must write a letter to introduce your DPO to us which DPO will submit it by uploading it to the system when he/she is doing the registration.
  2. Go to the PDPC website
  3. Select the registration section
  4. Select the area marked ‘Register your organization’
  5. Create your organization account. After submitting, Data Protection Officer will receive a verification link that will be sent to the email address used to create the organization account, DPO has to verify the account. After that, DPO can log in and finish filling out the registration form.
